Building a Better Future
The Office of Rural and Farmworker Housing (ORFH) is a private, statewide nonprofit corporation that develops and helps preserve housing for farmworkers and other rural residents of Washington State. ORFH provides direct, comprehensive development services to local nonprofit corporations, housing authorities, growers/employers and other organizations and individuals interested in developing new or preserving existing affordable housing.
ORFH develops both community based multi-family rental housing and works directly with the agricultural community to develop on-farm and near-farm housing serving the needs of both farmworkers and agricultural employers. ORFH offers all the necessary services to obtain capital financing and assure the quality of housing construction and property management.
ORFH is also a strong advocate for housing policy issues affecting farmworkers and other rural residents. ORFH’s dedication to affordable housing and participation in policy and advocacy allow ORFH to remain a leading advocate for rural affordable housing and help assure that rural interests are clearly represented at the federal, state and local levels.
ORFH has developed over 1,400 housing units in rural Washington State serving approximately 7,000 farmworkers, their dependents and other rural residents.
ORFH currently has 250 housing units in planning and development that will serve over 1,000 farmworkers and other rural residents.
To date ORFH has secured and managed over $150 million dollars for the development of affordable housing in Washington State.
